EASTER SPECIAL OFFERING
The Easter Special Offering is a tradition at SUMC. Each year we ask for donations to help those who are in need in our local, national, or global community. This year’s special offering will go to Days For Girls; the youth summer mission trip to Red Bird, Kentucky; and South Park Inn. As always, thank you for your generous Easter offerings.
A list of available times for participating in the prayer vigil can be found in Wesley Hall. The vigil begins at the end of the Good Friday service and goes until the Sunrise service on Easter Sunday. You may sign up for one hour or more, by yourself or with a friend/family member. There are even some hours where rehearsals and decorating of the sanctuary are occurring Saturday morning if you like music and company! Reading materials will be available and you may certainly bring your own things to do. The Handicap door will remain unlocked for participants to use. Please consider being a part of this meaningful event. Sooo…don’t walk…run! to Wesley Hall and sign up for a special hour with God! The spots are going like hot cakes!
WELCOME DEB REID!
Maureen Griffin has decided to pursue other interests and has left her position as our Office Manager. We will miss her; however, we are very lucky to have Deb Reid filling in for us in the office. Deb is new to our church family, so please be patient as she learns who everyone is and tackles the responsibilities of the church office. If you’re going to the office, please take some time to introduce yourself.
CELEBRATE EARTH DAY - Clean Up Simsbury
We will gather the morning of April 27 to wear our red SUM shirts and spend an hour or two cleaning up Simsbury. It is a great way to ‘show up’ as a church while serving the needs of the town and our earth. Make it a family affair! Sign up in Wesley Hall for your tee shirt and sign up. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org questions/sign up.
USHERS NEEDED – The Worship committee is looking for men and women to serve as ushers at 10:30. If you enjoy greeting people and helping throughout the service, consider being an usher! Training is provided. Contact Ed Hamilton or Sandy Lipscomb. Thank you!

Learn how the instrument is played, and see the 5,000 pound bells! Tours will be given after the 10:30 service. Meet outside the Carillon door near the rear of the Sanctuary. Please see Bridget Scarlato, Jen Acheson, Johnnie Denton, or Bob Shea if you have any questions.
WEEKLY YOUTH MEETINGS
Thursdays in the Barn, Junior Youth meet from 5:30–7pm, Senior Youth meet from 6:30 to 8pm, with the 6:30 to 7 half hour covering dinner for both groups and pick up/drop off. If we need to meet longer any particular weeks because of projects, we can make the adjustment then, but for now an hour for meeting and a half hour to eat will be plenty.
WEDNESDAY MORNING PLAY GROUP
This is a drop-in play group on Wednesday mornings in the barn. The group meets from 9:30-noon and is very laid back - come when you can, stay for as long as you'd like. We will have good coffee and treats, so no need to bring anything but yourself and your kiddos (if they're around - Erin will be showing up solo since both kids are in school). If you know someone who would be interested in joining us please pass this along! RSVPs are not necessary - if you're free, stop by. Contact Erin Ott: 914-213-1493; email@example.com.
WE NEED YOUR HELP WITH YOUTH EVENTS
You may be a new SUM member, and you may not have teens or tweens in your household now, but we would appreciate having you at activities for the young people at SUM. Contact Erin Ott at firstname.lastname@example.org 914-213-1493.
Your donation allows SUM to prepare and serve a hot meal once a month at the South Park homeless shelter in Hartford. You may donate food, money, or your time to prepare or serve meals, which are delivered on the first Tuesday of the month. Donations marked “South Park” in the memo may be left in the plate or sent to the office. You will find a food sign-up board at the sanctuary exit to Wesley Hall.
BEDS FOR SHELTER ANIMALS
Prayers and Squares is now making beds for shelter animals from fabric scraps collected at Days for Girls. These are used to stuff used pillowcases which are inserted in a zippered cover made from donated heavy duty material. No waste! 100% of your donations go to these worthwhile projects.
