  • YOU CAN SAVE A LIFE – Did you know that every week in CT, an average of 20 people die of an accidental overdose and an average of 8 die by suicide? Accidental overdose is now the leading cause of death for Americans under the age of 50, and suicide is the 10th leading cause of death. This is preventable and A Promise to Jordan is offering training to those who are interested. A Promise to Jordan is a nonprofit corporation whose mission is to raise awareness and eliminate the stigma of addiction, assist people in accessing quality care, and give hope that recovery is possible to those struggling with addiction. A Promise to Jordan offers QPR (question, persuade and refer) as well as Narcan training. Please come join us on Sept. 26th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Eno Hall to learn more about how you can help save a life. If you are interested, please register here.

  •  BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS – On October 6th (World Communion Sunday), we will have a blessing of the animals ceremony at 2:00 p.m. on the front lawn. Please join us with your pets from home for this special event.

  •  CONTEMPORARY CHRISTIAN BOOK STUDY – Come join us for an 8-week exploration of God, Jesus and love as we discuss the book, Love Wins by Rob Bell as well as videos from other contemporary Christian authors. The book study will be facilitated by Deacon Deb and Wayne Lambert. The start of this study will be on October 2 (postponed from Sept. 18th). If you are interested, please sign up in Wesley Hall or see Deacon Deb in person or email Deb.

  • ASSISTIVE LISTENING DEVICES – We now have Assistive Listening Devices for those who need it. They are available for all services. Please see an usher for assistance.

  • SUM’S YOUTH NEEDS YOU! – Interested in volunteering with the youth group? Anyone over the age of 18 is welcome to volunteer. Volunteering can be anything from leading a discussion on Christianity in the world today to out-driving our teens in go-karts, to leading an art project. Whatever your gifts are, we can find a way to incorporate them! The more adults we have that are willing to work with our youth, the more we can do! If you’re interested please call me at (914) 213-1493. Thank you. Erin Ott

  • PARENTS NIGHT OUT – We are coordinating a new cooperative babysitting program at SUM. Parents can take turns dropping their kids off, and other times volunteering as babysitters. In order to ensure that this program is a success, we need as many volunteers as possible. We are looking to do this quarterly but we may do it more frequently depending on its success. The first date will be November 9th from 5-8 p.m. in the Barn. Please contact Sharon Carley at 860-839-0199. if you would like to either drop off your child or volunteer to babysit.

  • CHILDREN’S MINISTRY – Help is needed in our Church School on Sunday mornings. Please consider leading or helping in a classroom this year! Please see Jody Swan or email Jody more details.

  •  NURSERY HELP NEEDED – Please come help our young SUM parents enjoy an hour to themselves. Support is needed a few times a month in the Nursery. You’ll definitely leave each Sunday with a smile.
