CHURCH SCHOOL AND YOUTH GROUP VOLUNTEERS

SOCKTOBER PLANNING MEETING– Please join us for a Socktober organizational meeting on Monday, June 10that 7 p.m. in the Barn. We are looking for input and volunteers for box decorating, drop off locations, advertising, collection, etc. We would welcome volunteers to be a co-chair or to take on one of the tasks. All are welcome. If you would like to help but cannot make the meeting, please contact Debbie Dunn at email@example.com.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL VOLUNTEERS TRAINING
There will be VBS training and Safe Sanctuary training for all Vacation Bible School volunteers. Everyone must attend one of the following sessions: Thursday, June 13thfrom 6:00-7:30 p.m. or Saturday, June 15thfrom 9:00-10:30 a.m. The sessions will be held at First Church of Simsbury in the Parson’s Study.
OFFICIAL CHURCH CONFERENCE MEETING
There will be an official Church Conference meeting on Sunday, June 16thafter the combined 10:00 service and prior to the Strawberry Festival. We will be voting in the following people: Bruce Hale as our new Church Council Chair, Sammy Samuel as our new Financial Secretary and Mike Motyl to SPR. All are welcome to attend.
ANNUAL STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL WILL BE ON SUNDAY, JUNE 16TH AT 11:00 am
The Strawberry Festival will begin at 11 a.m. after our combined 10:00 a.m. service and Church Conference Meeting. Music will be brought to you by Chris Barnes! Chris is a very talented singer and guitarist. We look forward to hearing his music!!
STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! - We need a few more volunteers to help us with strawberries and biscuits on Saturday, June 15thbeginning at 9:00 a.m. until we finish. We also need many hands on Sunday to make this special event run smoothly. There are sign-up posters in Wesley Hall or you can reach out to Heidi Fitzsimmons, Hospitality Chair at firstname.lastname@example.org 860-922-0475.
SAVE THE DATE FOR OUR EDUCATION & AWARENESS EVENTS
Please join us for two important events that will help support us on our journey to learn more about the current
situation within the UMC. The first event, Pastor Panel: How We Came To Our Understanding will be held on Sunday, June 23rd from 11am-1pm and Monday evening, June 24th from 7-9pm in the sanctuary. The second event, The Basics of Human Sexuality & LGBTQ will be held on Sunday, June 30th from 11am-1pm and Monday evening, July 1st from 7-9pm in the sanctuary. We are offering two dates for each event so everyone will have the opportunity to attend. Lunch will be offered on the two Sundays and childcare will be available.

SUMMER CHURCH SCHOOL HELP
Please come and spend a Sunday or two helping out in our Summer Church School. The curriculum and fun activities will be provided. Please see Jody Swan for more details or you can email Jody at firstname.lastname@example.org
USHERS NEEDED – The Worship committee is looking for men and women to serve as ushers at 10:30. If you enjoy greeting people and helping throughout the service, consider being an usher! Training is provided. Contact Ed Hamilton or Sandy Lipscomb. Thank you!
SOUTH PARK – WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!! We are still looking for a volunteer (or volunteers) to keep this ministry running. South Park is a vital part of our congregation and we want to continue this effort moving forward. We serve dinner every first Tuesday of the month at the South Park shelter. To make it happen, someone needs to purchase food and make sure there are volunteers to prepare the food at church and then go serve it at the shelter. CARILLON TOURS – THERE WILL BE A CARILLON TOUR SUNDAY JUNE 9 AT 11:30!
PLEASE MEET IN THE BACK OF THE SANCTUARY IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO COME UP TO THE TOWER TO SEE THE SUM CARILLON.
Interested in learning about and playing our SUM Carillon? Learn how the instrument is played, and see the 5,000 pound bells! Tours will be given after the 10:30 service on the second Sunday of the Month. Meet outside the Carillon door near the rear of the Sanctuary.
