Have You Tried the New Coffee During Fellowship Hour?

Beginning this summer, the Hospitality Committee began serving Fair Trade coffee during Fellowship Hour after the Sunday services. Why Fair Trade? Farmworkers, not just the farmers, need to have fair wages and safe working conditions. Nowadays the only independent organizations that are watching out for coffee workers are Fair Trade, Rainforest Alliance, and UTZ certifications. SUM is glad to do a little to help them – and it’s a bonus to be able to enjoy a really great cup of coffee! And — we can all agree that good coffee tastes even better when you drink it out of a real mug, not a Styrofoam cup. Thank you to Matthew Jamieson for building the “coffee cup kiosk”!

The Hospitality Committee would welcome occasional donations to offset the cost of the coffee (it does cost a lot more than the “old” coffee-hour brew) – but please know that donations are absolutely not required. Reach out to Heidi Fitzsimmons if you’d like to contribute. We hope everyone is enjoying the coffee!
