YOUTH NEWS

The youth sponsored a Strawberries and Flowers fundraiser on Mother’s Day, which netted $750 toward the summer mission trip to Red Bird, Kentucky. The day before Mother’s Day, junior youth met at the church to assemble flower bouquets, and senior youth gathered to make chocolate-covered strawberries. Thank you to all church members who purchased the flowers and treats!

Also in May, the senior youth enjoyed a very competitive “Chopped”event – teams took over the church kitchen and cooked up appetizers, main dishes, and desserts using the ingredients provided to them (including “mystery” ingredients – like cactus!). The team led by Lauren and Robyn Ampadu was the night’s big winner. Thanks to Pastor Gene and to the Cutlers for serving as tasters/judges. We’ll be sure to make this an annual youth event!

The youth held a hot dog sale during the Memorial Day carillon concert/parade. We raised $650 for the mission trip! Big thanks to Mike Motyl for putting it all together, and to Tim Boswell and Mathew Jameson for helping to grill.

The end of May means the end of the program year/weekly meetings for both junior and senior youth groups, but…stay tuned for summer events! And of course, the youth will travel to Red Bird, Kentucky, to serve a mission in August.

Parent Feedback Wanted – Two Sessions on Monday, June 3!
I want to hear from you, the parents and guardians of our awesome youth, about your (and your child’s) experience with youth group this past year. I have some ideas for next year and I am interested in your feedback about what you saw happening this year. I am also looking for ways that we can work together to streamline our youth group events (volunteers, skills that you might be willing to share, food donation ideas).

I will be in the Barn on Monday, June 3, from 10:00 a.m. – noon, and from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. (come whichever time works best for you).RSVPs are always helpful, but not necessary. If you can’t make one of the sessions, please email me with any suggestions for next year/comments about this year.

And lastly — a big thank you to all of the adult volunteers who helped make youth group happen this year!
