Carillon and Organ
Wow. We are blessed with an amazing organ, and an equally amazing 55-bell carillon.
These instruments were given to SUM by Charles and Peggy Foreman in 1986. Historical and technical info on the Foreman Organ can be found here.
True fact: There are only 11 Carillons in the state of Connecticut….and ours is the second-largest. You will often hear are church carillon bells before and after Sunday services, and even in Simsbury center throughout the week when one of our church carillon players are in the tower.
Even more amazing: YOU can learn to play this wonderful instrument. It’s easy to learn, fun to do, and doesn't require music reading or keyboard experience. Occasional group sessions are scheduled throughout the year. In group sessions, everyone gets to encourage each other while building a community of support for the instrument, therefore, sessions are intended for adults as well as kids!
