God’s Work. Our Hands.

This coming week, we will be going into the Thanksgiving holiday. A time that we as a nation reflect upon the many blessings, we have to be thankful for. Let us also acknowledge that all we have is a gift from God.

As we continue our journey together in the 2024 stewardship campaign, "God's work. Our hands.", and we reflect on our many blessings this Thanksgiving, let us also contemplate Matthew 25, where Jesus speaks of the blessed individuals who will inherit the kingdom of God. These individuals exemplify generosity by providing food to the hungry, drink to the thirsty, clothing to the naked, inviting in the stranger, and caring for those in need. Jesus teaches us that every act of kindness we extend to all God's children is regarded as if it were directly done for him.

Simsbury United Methodist Church has a long history of generosity and a legacy of that generosity making a significant impact in our community and world. Through all five of our baptismal vows, to give our prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness, we strive to exemplify Christ’s teaching in Matthew 25.  Some of our many ways of impacting the world include feeding the hungry, inviting in strangers, and bringing comfort to those in need. Indeed, being a Simsbury United Methodist Church member is something to be truly thankful for!

All of this powerful impact that Simsbury United Methodist Church is able to produce begins with our pledges that allow the church to plan what ways it can support the ministries it embarks upon in the coming year. Before the bobbin can be threaded to sew a quilt, the first meal packed, before we crack open that book for small group study or dress our child for Church School, we must have the staff and facilities ready to support those ministries.

As we count the many blessings and things we are thankful for this week, please consider, prayerfully, using the online pledge form (here) or one of the green cards available at the church. Whether you can increase your pledge, are pledging for the first time, stay at the same level, or even if you cannot pledge this year, we would love to hear from you, and we are thankful you are here with us on this journey.
