A Letter from Pastor Gene - Caring Conversations

It seems like yesterday when I received an email from the North Canton Community United Methodist Church asking me if I could help them, but in reality, that was in 2023 or almost two years ago. Since then, Deacon Deb and I have pastored at North Canton and Copper Hill various times. Currently, we’re pastoring North Canton, Copper Hill, and Washington Hill, all while maintaining our roles here at SUM. Additionally, for the last couple of years, I have been the Parish Coordinator for the Farmington River Parish, including the above churches and Pleasant Valley, Avon Memorial, Torrington, and Litchfield-Bantam.

While Deacon Deb and I have made a commitment to serve, we’ve become aware of some uneasiness around this ask from Bishop Bickerton that we’d like to air out. We’ve always thought it best to go to the source, so we’re setting aside some time tomorrow, December 1, after the 10:30 service to hear from all of you regarding your questions, concerns, or anything else you’d like us to know. We hope you can join us.
