Stewardship 2025: Please Don’t Make Us Call You

We are finishing up our annual Stewardship Campaign for 2025 this weekend. We have been renewing our efforts to be as transparent as possible regarding the church finances. We all belong to an incredibly dynamic and loving community here at SUM, and that requires a lot of volunteer time, as well as a lot of financial support. Our staff is dedicated to our church family, and they are all underpaid, in my humble opinion. It also costs a lot to maintain our beautiful, old buildings, the grounds, and our parsonage. By letting us know how much we can count on from you for 2025, it helps us figure out where we are financially.

As of this Tuesday, we are short on pledge money and short on the number of pledges compared to last year. In reality, this is nothing new. Every year, a few people get on the phone and email, and gently remind people who have pledged in the past, that we haven’t seen anything from them yet. Often, the responses are things like, “Oh, I thought I sent that in,” or, “I thought my spouse took care of that!” But it would be amazing if we didn’t have to do that this year (no one really likes this particular chore).

If your circumstances have changed, and you’re not able to pledge, we totally understand. However, it’s hugely helpful if we know that, so we don’t call and make you uncomfortable. Please drop us a note at Stewardship@sumct.org, and we’ll put you on our “do not call” list for this year. But if you can pledge and simply haven’t gotten around to it yet, please let us know. You can call the office at 860-651-3356, email Greg at Stewarship@sumct.org, email Deb Reid in the office at Office@sumct.org, or go to our website and click the blue banner at the top of the page to submit your pledge online. You can also pledge here.

We all appreciate you and your dedication to SUM, so please don’t make us call you! ☺
