Magi, Road Trips & a New Year
As we gear up for the journey into this new year, it feels a bit like setting out on a road trip with an open map (or maybe no map at all). There’s excitement, a little uncertainty, and the occasional, “Are we sure we’re going the right way?” It’s a lot like the Magi’s journey—following the star without a GPS or rest stops mapped out, trusting that what they were heading toward would be worth it.
Let’s be honest: every road trip has its moments. There might be detours, unexpected construction zones, or someone in the backseat (or your own mind) asking, “Are we there yet?” But just like the Magi, we can trust that God’s light is leading us forward, even when the road isn’t what we planned. Maybe the bumps and surprises along the way are exactly where we’ll encounter God’s grace in unexpected ways.
Of course, every great road trip also comes with amazing moments—the breathtaking views, the great conversations, and those unplanned stops that end up being the best part of the journey. This year will have its share of those, too. But like the Magi, it all starts with being willing to set out, to trust the unknown, and to keep going even when we’re not quite sure what’s around the next bend.
So, whether this year feels like a smooth highway or a bumpy back road, let’s pack our bags with faith, courage, and a sense of humor. Let’s support each other on the journey, share the snacks (literal and spiritual), and remember that God’s light is always ahead, guiding us. And hey, if you ever feel lost, don’t forget to look up—just like the Magi, the light is still shining.
With hope (and a good road trip playlist),
