SUM and LLI Once Again Exceeded the CCC Holiday Gift Drive Goal!
SUM and LLI families went above and beyond to share the love with 150 children this holiday season!!!! Your generous outpouring of gifts in response to the 120 Christmas tree tags was distributed through CCC and MIOP (Maternal Infant Outreach Program in Hartford, which serves pregnant parents and parents with babies). The social workers were overcome by your generosity and needed three cars to transport all the gifts to Hartford. The gifts were picked up in plenty of time to distribute to families before Christmas!
In addition to the gifts, church members, LLI families, and friends contributed over $1000.00 for Covenant to Care for Children holiday gifts. In response to Catherine’s request, Sandy and I went on an early Saturday morning marathon shopping spree and purchased educational toys for an additional 30 children. I delivered these items to CCC the following Monday. When I arrived, social workers were there waiting to put the items in gift bags to be distributed that afternoon. Catherine, our CCC contact, wrote:
Dear Melissa and UMC Simsbury Congregation,
Today we all take a breath and recall the Joys as well as the challenges of the Holidays. The families that we serve would not have as many Joys to cherish in their memories without your generosity. From their Hearts and mine, thank you, and may your New Year be filled with Love and Joy!!
Blessings,
Catherine
